Ergonomic and practical floor cleaning: 2 simple accessories that change your life!
December 16, 2024Floor cleaning can be a major physical strain for operators, particularly because of the repetitive movements and uncomfortable positions involved. Over time, Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) can develop, limiting operators' ability to work and affecting their health. However, good floor cleaning is an essential part of good hygiene. This is obviously the case for healthcare establishments, but it is just as true for offices, industry, hotels and restaurants, etc. The risks of cross-contamination can represent a direct threat to the hygiene of an area.
Washing floors with a pre-impregnation protocol: an essential basis
Washing floors with a pre-impregnation protocol is an essential basis for effective floor cleaning. This protocol enables the floor to be cleaned with a systematically clean strip or mop that has been properly impregnated with water and detergent. To find out more, you can consult the dedicated training course about the GUIALTO pre-impregnation protocol.
Most pre-impregnation protocols recommend the use of velcro fringes, i.e. with a velcro backing. However, these mops have three disadvantages. The first is hygienic. Once a surface has been cleaned, the operator has to remove the fringe from the frame with his hands and place it in the bin for dirty fringes. This presents a potential risk of cross-contamination, as after touching the dirty fringe, the operator will have to grab a new, clean fringe, a handle or the handles of the trolley. The second problem is practical. In fact, removing the fringe from the frame often involves complicated movements on the part of the operator, resulting in large movements of the shoulders and arms to lift the handle and the grinder to hand level, for example. Over time, these actions can lead to RSI, or encourage operators to renew the fringe less frequently than they should. The third problem is that the lifespan of velcro fasteners, whether on the frame or the fringe, is often shorter than the lifespan of good quality fringe, which can last for more than three hundred washes. The fringe therefore has to be discarded because the Velcro is no longer adherent, whereas the fringe could continue to be used for many more uses.
The Touch Free system: hygiene and convenience
To overcome these three problems, GUIALTO has developed an innovative and very simple system. The Touch Free System consists of two small wings to be positioned on the 22L bucket for room mops and an adapted frame. This adapted frame enables used mops to be collected without any direct contact with the operator, eliminating any risk of contamination. The operator no longer needs to bend down or handle the dirty mops directly. Simply position the frame in the bucket designed to collect the dirty mops and raise the frame until it hits the fins. This will cause the frame to bend and the mop to fall into the bin. It's automatic and extremely easy to do. As a result, it's both a more hygienic and ergonomic solution, ideal for reducing unnecessary effort and protecting users' health.
This solution works with all types of pocket fringes, eliminating potential problems associated with velcro fringes and frames. This solution is of course compatible with a pre-pregnation protocol to be carried out prior to cleaning.
The ergonomic handle: comfort and adaptability
With two rotating handles, an adjustable height and a Z-shaped joint, this handle is designed to adapt to the shape and needs of users. These features reduce strain on the wrists, back and shoulders, making cleaning more comfortable and less tiring. The handle is not captive and can be adapted to all types of frames. This ergonomic telescopic handle is designed and manufactured in France.
A complete solution for optimised cleaning
The combination of the Touch Free and the ergonomic handle represents a major advance in professional cleaning. By improving comfort and minimising effort, these accessories promote a healthy, efficient working environment.
